Farming Deer has been practiced since the
roman times. In recent times, European and
Eastern Countries have farmed deer for the
Velvet Antler (for medicinal purposes) and
for the meat. The antler is a renewable
resource growing as a new set each year.

In 1982 North America started importing Venison from New Zealand to meet consumer demand. In the late 1980s Breeding stock was imported into Canada and the U,S,A, from New Zealand to create farms to satisfy the demand.

Even so, consumption of New Zealand venison in North America has increased 120% since 1991. Over 850 metric tons Of deer meat is imported into North America from New Zealand yearly. Our venison market in Canada is only in the infant stage with opportunities for producers and processors to capture this ever expanding market.

Elk farming is in that same infant stage with demand increasing for its venison and new markets opening up for the Velvet Antler. In recent years prices for Canadian Velvet Antler have exceeded $110.00 per lb. a good Bull Elk will provide 20+ lb. of Velvet Antler per year and there are bulls still producing at 18 years of age . A bull can be fed and cared for costing about $320.00 per year. Caring for and handling these majestic animals is a unique opportunity any herdsman would find a great deal of satisfaction and enjoyment in.

Our mandate is to assist new Elk & Deer farms in all aspects of their operation, set up and herd selection. We offer our technical support and proven market development programs to the new farmer.

Our Farm Store is open Saturdays & Sundays 10am to 5 pm
offering a variety of Game Meats , a selection of locally made Leather products
(moccasins, mitts hats etc.) and CANEVA antler capsules for humans and K-9 ,
as well as frozen and traditionally sliced Elk Antler & Deer Horn.
