What is Velvet Antler?

Antler humanely harvested from Elk and Red Deer during the 1st 60 to 80 days of the annual growth cycle can be called Velvet Antler. At Glen Ewen Springs it is harvested at this time to ensure minimal calcification and a premium drug free product. The removal also ensures the bulls safety and welfare as during the fall  mating season they become quite aggressive towards each other Only Bulls grow antler but they will produce a set, each year of their life, possibly 17 to 20 years.

            Once removed the antler is frozen and then shipped to a processing lab where the velvet layer is removed and discarded. The antler is dried, tested, ground to fine powder and then capsulated and bottled through strict pharmaceutical  processes.

            Some of our velvet antler is sold fresh frozen to China , Korea , New Zealand , and Local Markets. A set of Velvet Antler may weigh  from 4lb.to 20lb per side depending on the age of the bull.

What is Velvet Antler used for ?

        Velvet Antler Capsules can alleviate the symptoms of Rheumatoid arthritis and Osteoarthritis by rebuilding cartilage and relieving pain and stiffness in the joints.

         Today, Scientists are discovering many other uses for velvet antler. On Jan. 8th 1999 In Platte City, MO. the first health care claim of velvet antler to be substantiated by Scientific evidence, in compliance with US Food and Drug Administration  regulations, was announced as follows: “ There is reasonable basis to claim that “ Velvet Antler helps relieve the symptoms of arthritis”. This        determination was made by two of the leading dietary supplement firms in the world,  Nutrinfo of   Watertown , Massachusetts and Tradeworks Group Inc., of Brattleboro , Vermont .

         Dosage: It is recommended to start with 3 to 4   capsules per day, taken on an empty stomach with a glass of water first thing in the morning. Reduce dosage in 3 to 4 weeks as symptoms are alleviated.   

Velvet Antler has also been shown to benefit your Aging Canine Companions with arthritic symptoms, as well as improving overall health and vitality.
